PRICY PROTECTION

ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA TO HAVE BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOWN WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN. THE ONLY THING IS MOST OF THE PLANS ARE A BIT TOO EXPENSIVE BUT IN THE LONG RUN WORTH IT.

This warranty is completely useless. I am a college student and am always breaking laptops in one way or another. So when I bought my new laptop I thought it would be a good idea to purchase a warranty. The sales person told me this warranty would be perfect if I ever had missing keys, problems with my hard drive and really sold me on the "screen replacement." Well my laptop screen broke about a year after I bought my laptop (the screen was basically falling off) and of course I went into staples to use my warranty and get it replaced. When I got to the store someone assessed the damage, decided that it could be fixed and shipped it off to the staples tech center or whatever to have it fixed. THREE, yes THREE weeks later someone from staples calls me and tells me they refused service on my laptop because according to them the damage to my screen was "accidental damage" on my part and my warranty did not cover accidental damage, so no screen replacement for me, thus this warranty that advertises a so called "screen replacement" was completely USELESS. Also when I went to pick my still broken laptop up at the store and talked with someone about why they refused service the guy I talked to even said staples was impossible with the screen replacements and rarely ever replaced anyones screen, even though it "comes" with the warranty. Don't bother with the warranty and don't bother with staples period.

It's great to have a screen replacement plan; especially with a laptop. This plan, however, does not cover accidental breakage, so I guess it's great if your screen should spontaneously explode which I'm sure they are prone to do from time to time.

Also, make sure to keep your receipt and register the product immediately. It would probably also be a good idea to take a digital pic of the registration screen with you holding that days newspaper as Staples seems not to have caught on to the whole digital thing just yet.

I guess I'm happy in the fact I got points on my Staples reward card for my laptop purchase. Oh, wait a minute, that's right; Staples is too cheap to give points for minor purchases like laptops. Oh well, once I've bought 2 or 3 thousand reams of paper I should get a $5 gift card or something so I've got that going for me.

We were told by two Staples employees when we bought the warranty that it would cover a one time screen replacement for any reason. When the 6 month old LCD screen cracked due to the flimsy lid on the laptop, the customer service people insist we must have dropped it, and this warrantly doesn't cover accidental damage. You had to pay another 69.00 dollars for that. Neither Hp, nor Staples , nor this useless warranty company will do anything for us. If I can stop one person from buying this, I have done my civic duty. Notice all the positive comments from on this site are from people who haven't tried to use the warranty yet.
