I'm really tired of these halogen lamps. I don't know why they can't make a receptacle for the pins. Just cramming them into the ceramic doesn't make sense. And, you can't touch the bulb when replacing them.That said, the small footprint makes a lot of sense for a small end table for general reading. This one, for [$] did the trick. I might rewrite this review in a year or so when the bulb dies and I spend two hours replacing it. In the meantime, I'll enjoy this one.

What is the G4 Base? The Bulb that I need to replace is a:
20 Watt 120 Volt Halogen with G8 Base. I need to know if the Voltage/G# Base difference are referring to different brightness, or if the adaptor will not work for the current socket that I need to repace this lightbulb from???

  A G4 base indicates how the pins are set. Currently G8 bases are not available on Staples.com, but they may be available as a special order. Please contact customer service at 1-800-333-3330 for further assistance.
