Staples 3 " Better Binder Heavy Duty

My daughter went through the regular 3 inch binders every six weeks. They'd just fall apart from being shoved in a locker, backpack, etc. We bought the better binder after going through several other 3 inch binders and that was last school year. She is using the same one this school year. So we of course had to buy my son the same kind this year when he started intermediate school. Love how durable it is and holds up to being dropped, shoved in lockers, etc. It is large and bulky when filled with notebooks, etc. but any 3 inch binder would be!

I had planned to use this as a 'portfolio' for my son's school work and related documents. Since I had quite a few documents, on the surface, this seemed to be a perfect product. As soon as I got it home I put all of the documents (about 500 pages or so) and dividers in. Imagine my disappointment when the rings would not stay closed?!?!? I did not expect to have this problem the very first time I tried to close it at the price I paid!. Certainly would not recommend.

It has a place and a label to use on the spine and you can use a full page for a cover. Large and sturdy.

This was a pricey binder but I wanted something that would hold a lot of paper and this is working out really well. Very sturdy. Because I have so much paper in it I keep it on top of a credenza and it is easy to flip through and add things. Quite heavy when full but easy to use.

Rings don't close tightly together, which causes papers to slip out when you try to turn pages in this binder. I wouldn't keep anything in it you care about. Other then the rings (most important part) it looks good.

Is this a better binder than the item #702879 that has a rubberized spline? This is labeled as heavy duty whereas the other item is not labeled as such yet has a rubberized spline.

  They are going to be equally heavy duty. The only difference between the two binders are the rings. The blue one has round rings and the white one has D-Rings.
