Most useful for me with my somewhat impaired vision. I can move the screen in close when I need to, e.g. photos; I can move the screen out when I don't need the details and am simply reading text, e.g. email. The best part is that it seems stable and not prone to drifting downward (when properly adjusted).

The only thing in installation that was a little annoying is that two of the adjusting screws were so tight that I abandoned using the enclosed wrench for fear of breaking it (and hurting myself)or damaging the screws. I then used my cordless drill with the appropriately-sized metric bit to loosen said screws by incrementally increasing the torque setting on the drill until the screws came loose. Maybe this should have been done in the Staples store where I bought the arm.

I bought this stand to get my monitor of my desk AND give me some flexibility in moving the monitor around throughout the day. Its great for lifting the monitor off the desk; not so great for moving the monitor around (a Samsung SyncMaster 2343bwx @ ~16lbs). To keep the monitor from sagging, I had to tighten the screws pretty snug, which made it difficult to easily/smoothly move the monitor. Also, you need to "pinch" the plastic tabs where the two arms meet to move the monitor up/down.

I wound up getting an Ergotron LX arm, which was twice as expensive, but lets me move the monitor around my desk MUCH more easily.

I'd recommend the 3M arm IF you just want to get your monitor off your desk but don't need to move it around. It's easy to set up the arm and easy to position the monitor. Tighten the screws and you're set. If you need to move your monitor, try an Ergotron.

I bought this while back and it serves it's purpose to get my monitor off the desk. Although maneuvering this arm is difficult and requires ratcheting and pushing a button on the main hinge, with a lot of force. Basically, you really have to plan it out to get just the right length, height etc. and you have to tighten it quite a bit to get it to stay... so once it's in position, don't mess with it.
Recently I put all my monitors on arms and went with ergotron for the other mounts. Amazing difference. The ergotron mounts are actually customizable, much higher quality and cheaper. In hindsight, this 3m monitor mount was a complete waste of money, now that I know what I was missing.

Initial setup and adjustment was more complicated than expected. Overall good quality, works well, adjustable in almost any directon (with the included wrench). Will buy again.

This mount allows me to move the monitor closer to me for easier viewing when needed but can be moved back out of the way. Would like it to adjust up and down but has helped with the pains I had been having in my neck after working on my computer all day.
