Main purpose of the UPS is to provide PC's and its necessary peripherals with CONSTANT flow of power. I purchased this UPS to keep our internet connection "live" and my boss from hitting the button a million times to connect to the Internet. The connection was constantly going out - our modem kept lossing power. Even the cable guy did not know why the modem kept losing it. Once I connected this battery our modem never lost its lights. I connected 1 laptop, 1 pc, 1 monitor, 1 modem, 1 router, 1 subwoofer, and my boss's iPod and Cell Phone, there is still room for more. Someone always momentarilly diconnects power to the office by an accident and the laptop and the PC never lose power. We get a message when we are running on the battery power. My boss is now happy (that's all that matters). Our office network does not suffer any longer. Power surges as well as brownouts are the reasons our PC's go dead sooner than later (business and home).

I have been using APC products for 10 years, and for that ENTIRE TIME I have wondered why they crowd the electrical outlet openings on their systems. I have several items plugged in to this device, and have three plug openings that are INACCESSIBLE to transformer plugs because adjoining transformer plugs are covering the openings.

It seems to be a very fundamental design flaw. How difficult would it be to add another measly 1/4" on each side of a plug opening? Back-up manufacturers just don't get it! Why do APC & others design a product with functional obsolescence built in to it right from the start?

Aside from the non-functional design, I like that this unit has the feature of shuting down the power to my two monitors. There are four "Master" outlets that cut the power after you shut down your computer... no more glowing red lights continuing to drain power after shut down.

I also find their Power Chute software to be very easy to navigate and quite informative to use in deciphering the results of outages. It enables you to adjust how you would like the Back-Up to power down your computer or device.

This was a defective unit,a defective data port could not maintain communication w/computer more than minuets at a time. could not record outages, this from out of the box. APC replaced under warranty w/in 10 days, w/a nicer unit, more power,but not the green option,better footprint, which has worked flawlessly since. APC does stand behind a usually highly superior product

Haven't run into any issues at all with this product. Easy to set up & monitor. Reliable thru 2 power outages already with no problems. Great price for something so solid.

Getting the battery out of it's slot takes two hands & to support it. It takes another 2 hands & a pair of pliers to fasten the wire securely. I would suggest a pull-out strip system to allow contact. I had to wait 2 days before someone was handy to do assist in Step 1.
