if more than one phone is purchased for business office, there is a problem in privacy. when receiving or making calls, one must pick up line and press priacy immediately or whom ever else picks up same line in your office will cut in on call or hear your conversation. once privacy button is pressed and you put on hold for someone else to pick up, they can not answer until you press privacy cancellation. we purchased 6 phones and have 4 people and it has caused problems when we answer our patients" calls. they hear several voices at the same time, this feature can not be eleminated.

We are replacing our 6 4-line #974 telephones in the office. We have caller ID and Voice Mail provided in our AT&T contract. However we wanted to know if this just one telephone replacing another - plug 'n play?

Someone already asked how the intercom worked and you/staples rep responded to see the manual..... the phone has not been purchased yet so there is no access to that. How does the intercom work? Can I be in my office and intercom to another? And if so, how does that work? Thank you- Christina

              • A:

The intercom is used to communicate between bases. So you would be able to intercom another base on the same channel.

I operate a convenience store. I have 2 lines, there is a phone up front by the cash registers and one in back in the office. I was looking for new phones, specifically ones with an intercom that way if a cashier has a phone call for someone in the office they can communicate through the intercom system. Is this a use of the intercom system? How does the intercom work exactly? Does this phone have an option to mount on the wall?

If I have 4 lines, and the phones are in different parts of the office, can I transfer a call that comes in on the main phone to a phone in a different part of the office? Do they have to be on the same line? If I had 6 lines, and a call came in on phone A, line 1, could I transfer it to phone B line 6? (ie phone A has lines 1, 2, 3, & 4 and phone B has lines 3, 4, 5, & 6)

This is a PBX phone so yes, calls can be transferred from one phone to another on different lines (extensions).

With this particular phone model you would be able to transfer calls to a separate phone line. The transfer is dependant on what lines are open on the second phone, for example if you have a call on the second phone on the first line, the transferred call would come in on the second line.
