Q: we have 2-lines in our home. one line we use only for a fax machine upstairs but the whole house is wired for both lines. since this is a waste of that line most of the time if i hook up the phone base w/ answering machine downstairs and leave the fax machine plugged in upstairs right in the wall jack and set to answer on 4 rings. can i make it so the answering machine will pick up line 1 in 4 rings and our fax machine will pick up line 2 in 4 rings if no one is home? or do we have to have the fax plugged into the base to make it work with the system? thanks Asked on 9/2/2012 by meoldone from virginia Know the answer?
