For the price, this is a great phone. Simple and basic. clear voice output. It has big buttons and is easy to see and dial. This phone would be perfect for an older person and/or senior citizen. It is a no brainer to use. The back light is nice for dialing the telephone in the dark or where there is not sufficient light to see otherwise. I would hightly recommend this product. In my opinion, all AT and T product are of exceptional quality. The sleek design goes well in my kitchen or any other decor. This is not your grandparents phone. It is an updated version of a simply wall hanging phone of the past. If you're looking for a low priced, high quality phone, get this one.

Most of us, if not all of us who have used a Trimline/slimline type phone, or for that matter any phone where the dialing buttons are on the handset, are used to having an audible tone as we push the number buttons during the act of dialing. This way we know that the phone has registered the button push. Unfortunately, AT&T has decided to buck the convention and set the key press volume so low that the only way to hear it is to have the handset next to your ear. This leads to a different problem – one cannot see which buttons are being pushed. I called AT&T's tech support to see if there was a way to increase the key press volume and the answer I got was "This phone does not have that option". This is the dumbest thing under the sun!!

does the phone require batteries? Does it need to be plugged into a wall outlet? (looking for the really old fashioned, non-powered phone)
Asked on 8/16/2012 by rocklily from CA

                1 answer

                • A:

This phone requires 4 AAA batteries for the Caller ID Display to function. The phone itself just requires a regular phone jack to operate, and can function without the batteries, but the display will not show a Caller ID when a phone call comes in. There is no electrical wall outlet needed for it to operate.

How do I make the caller ID screen light up so it can be read when a call comes in. What does that "Display Dial" buttin do?

                • CUSTOMER CARE

                  A:

It sounds like your batteries may be low. If good batteries are not installed, the display will only work when you lift the handset and the display will be dimmer than usual. Pressing the "Display Dial" button will dial the number that is displayed on your screen.
