    Comments about Able Planet NC1100B Clear Harmony� Active Noise Canceling Headphones w/ Linx Audio�:

    I was very excited when I saw these headphones pop up on a one day only sale for a great price. I was intimidated by the regular [$] tag. I've been looking at Bose QC15, Soul by Ludacris and Beats by Dre in that similar price range. These headphones had about a 30 minute window before I decided they weren't for me. Upon opening, I really liked the case and the velcro attachments for your accessories. I plugged them in and began using the inline volume control. It was terrible. It would cut in and out while you changed the volume. Once you settled on a particular volume it would typically stay there but if it was bumped it would do the cutting out again. Then I tried to put in the batteries for the active noise cancelling. I literally could not get the cover off. There were no instructions displaying how to get it done. I looked online, read reviews about broken fingernails, sticking knives to get it off, etc. My preference for good design and usability raised the red flags and I put them back in the box. The volume control was brutal and the design of the battery cover was terrible. I pretty much lost faith in the rest of the headphones at that point. The sound without the batteries in(which may provide some benefit) was really mediocre and absolutely not comparable to even $100 sony headphones. I cannot comment on what it would sound like with the noise cancelling batteries installed so that may be an unfair comparison, but this is my personal opinion. I've currently narrowed my search to Soul by Ludacris and Bose QC15(the beats had too much emphasis on bass for my taste). I know I will be much happier with one of these.
