Great laptop, with one little change...the RAM
that comes installed (4Gb) was much too small 4 years ago, and
forget about it now. I picked it up on sale and replaced the one 4
Gb DDR3 chip with two 8 Gb chips for a total of 16 Gb (there are only two slots, which
is pretty standard for laptops). After that, this thing is a
powerhouse! Some people complain about the I3 processor, bit unless you are a serious, graphic-intense gamer, I don't see a huge difference. Yes, my 200 Mb Excel spreadsheet with 93k records in 57 columns might process my 4000 formulas in 8 seconds instead of 10 with an I7, but I don't see paying $400 more for that as being a good investment.

The touch screen is a little strange to get used to, but actually
very natural if you are used to smartphones and tablets. It's
great for presentations, you can draw diagrams right on the screen
(I do use a tablet pen for that).

The only real drawback, if I can find one right now, is the little
cord that you must not lose in order to connect to VGA or wired
Ethernet connections. Realisticly, I don't use these very much, so
my fear is that I will lose it and not notice it for months. The
built in HDMI port allows connection to most new projectors and
monitors and I figure I can buy a USB Ethernet converter in the
absolute worst case. MacBook users have the same issue, so I know
I'm not alone.

After two months, happy so far!

This laptop is ok, it feels a little cheap in construction. The mouse also gets "stuck" in the lower left of the screen if u put it down there.

Love the touchscreen use of this, I originally wondered just how much I would use this feature, but I use it all the time.
The Windows 8 on this is a little too "flashy" for it to be actually productive. The "Metro" screen or whatever the App screen is called hogs resources. This does not slow down the computer at all, but if you turn that interface off it will show a speed increase.
All in All I do like this, but I will hold out for a better Processor next time.

This was a gift for my daughter who is home schooled online. I will say the Win 8 has a definate learning curve and I almost messed up when I had to set it up with a password. That is a Win 8 issue though and not the computer.
This computer does evertything we need it to do. It plays her games and lets her get online to do her school work. She is eight and loves the touch screen although even she will say "It's not good for everything, having to always reach over the keyboard gets akward." I will say it is at times handy although not nessesary.
Yes, it does seem to have an internet issue. It will seem to 'forget' it is online while she is online. It's a quick fix, albeit annoying, I just disconnect and reconnect to the internet and it's good to go again. It does this a few times a week.

All the reviews said it had problems. It does. I am used to being able to zip around my 7 year old desktop like there is not tomorrow. You cannot do that on this brand new laptop. Spend half my time trying to get back on the internet with a special adapter I had to buy separately. Does not shut down properly 75% of the time. Frustrated and out $750+...ugh!!!

So, my desktop got the diagnosis of a fried mother board. Depressed, I decided to go shopping and look at what was new out there. I was instantly overwhelmed with the selection when I walked in to my local Staples Store. I had a budget, and wanted to get the best product I could find. This would be my 5th computer purchase. A very young salesperson approached me and began to dazzle me with his knowledge. He listened to what I wanted in a computer and narrowed it down to three. I instantly fell in love with the Acer and Windows 8. I used a coupon, and bought the computer thinking I would have to take advantage of coming back to the store for instructions. Wow, I was pleasantly surprised when I went home and felt proficient in a matter of an hour! I am still learning more everyday, and this is exciting as well. I would recommend the Acer to anyone looking for quality with value!
