Comments about Allsop MetalArt CPU Caddy:

How it is used:
- This caddy is holding a CPU that is 20in tall, 19in deep and 8.25in wide.
- The unit needs to slide easily under a desk on a rug of med pile height.
- Lots of USB ports in the back of the CPU, unit must slide in and out to accomodate plugging items in and switching them around as desired.

What's great about it:
- This product is allowing me easy access to the CPU, it rolls in and out on carpet easily: the side handles let you get a good grip and roll it without jaring or tipping.
- The base is wide enough to give the unit good stability when stationary and when plugging and unplugging components from the unit.
- The front two wheels have locks if you need them, but it's very stable on carpet and doesn't move about unless you pull it (ie., pressing buttons to turn the CPU on or off, disc changing, any regular activities with the CPU, does not cause it to roll on carpet).
- The width of the product is adjusted by wing nuts that hold the size you need without changing when you move the unit.

Down side:
- the inside of the product is not lined. It comes with 4 little little strips of padding that you stick onto the inside panels that face the CPU. These are suppose to keep the CPU from being scratched, but it doesn't address the base which is also unlined. The CPU this produce had to hold has a glossy finish and wouldn't have been safe from scratching with the padding strips provided. I added my own lining using non-slip drawer liner from the grocery store which worked fine but might not have fit if my CPU were wider. The product would benefit from it's own interior lining.
- Also, initially sliding the CPU into the caddy is a little clumsy for one person, but can be accomplished by tipping the CPU on it's side so you can slide it up on the bottom. In other words, you can't slide the panels onto the base, the entire thing goes together first, then you have to slide the CPU into the completed unit, which is a less useful design, but workable.

All in all though, this product does what it needs to do, really does look nice, and has been very stable. I would recommend it.

Easy to assemble. Works fine on low nap carpet. The color is more of a gun metal grey. It is not chrome shiny or neutral grey. So if you have to have something that will match your Mac Pro work horse, this is not for you. If you want something that works well - this works great.

There were 8 wing nuts included. 4 of them worked fine. 4 were too small. I had to return to the store where we opened another box and it had the same problem--some just right and some too small. Between the 2 boxes we were able to come up with 8 that were the right size. Except for that it's a good product.

My highest priority was quality. I want this stand to last, to protect my CPU from inadvertent kicks, and to be easy to clean around. I got all three. Surprisingly, it was somewhat challenging to get the sides evenly screwed to the base and fitted securely around the CPU. Looking back, I should have just measured the width of the CPU and set up the base accordingly, then eased the CPU into the base. The thumb screws under the base are harder to access once the CPU is in place. I like the steel construction and the overall design. Recommended.

Sturdy, easy to set up and rolls nicely. It's nice, solid aluminum. I chose this one because it's stylish. All the others are either ugly or cheap plastic.
