Components Broken and Missing

I ordered 2 of these file cabinets. Both arrived with a major structural component cracked and unusable. One must remove all the parts from the box to inventory and inspect them. Once the parts...Read complete review

I ordered 2 of these file cabinets. Both arrived with a major structural component cracked and unusable. One must remove all the parts from the box to inventory and inspect them. Once the parts are removed from the box the average user is not going to be able to get them all back in the box. Staples would not exchange the broken parts out of a good unit in stock at a store but rather wanted me to bring in both units boxed back up. Therefore I had to order the parts from the manufacturer which took another 5-7 business days. I was disappointed with Staples idea of customer service and satisfaction. With the exception of the very top of the units the construction is particle board with cherry laminate rather than solid wood. The unit tops are the only thing made from solid wood.

    The drawers kept popping out of the tracks and would not open. I called Staples and they sent a new one. When I opened the box, the right side panel was cracked in three places. I tried to use the first side panel. Now the drawers would not slide in.

      This product is sturdy and stylish and fits in well with "mission style" furniture. It has been in use for over 10 days, long enough to see flaws in the design or mater;ial if there were any. I had looked for a 2 drawer vertical file that would fit my needs in stores and found nothing for the price I could afford, so I decided to take a chance on this model. What a pleasant surprise. Ease of on-line purchase on a secure site, e-mail verifications, and prompt shipping by meams of UPS were added pluses for this purchase.

      the cabinet is not too bad for a budget. the plastic handles stripped out and we replacer them with nmetal handles from lowes. ity definetly needs two people to assemble it and read the instruction sheet. but it'll be put to good use . and it is going to reduce our desk clutter.
