I actually bought 2 desks along with 2 matiching hutches. I placed them together to create a U shape in a small room that I am using for an office. I am using one desk for my computer and the other for crafting. These are very nice looking pieces of furniture. Not top of the line, but I wasn't looking for that. I wanted something that was mostly economical and functional - which these are. Took some time to put together but we were not in a hurry. My husband and I did one set one day, the other set the next day - with breaks throughout. Very easy to follow instructions - just time consuming as previously stated. Already had my eye on this set and when I saw it on sale for half price, I had to get it. Now I am waiting for the lateral file and the bookshelves to go on sale so I can get them. I already have functional equavalents of these items but would like to get them anyway to finish the whole look - if I could find them on sale. Some of the drawers needed to be tweeked a little to get them not to stick but other than that no real problems. Since my desks are both against walls, I decided not to put the back on the computer cabinet in order to make extra room for cords and for extra ventilation. In the other computer cabinet I am storing my sewing machine which fits perfectly. I also chose to not use the cutout for the cords. My cords just drop over the sides of the desk, which again is fine since they are both against a wall. The back of the hutch can stay unattatched along the bottom and is scored along the back enabling it to stay flipped up if you would like in order to allow for cords along that side as well. I would recommend getting the lateral file cabinet if you have a printer so you are not using up desk space for it - unless you have something else that would work. I personally prefer a desk without a keyboard shelf since I keep my keyboard on top of the desk. I like the extra leg room under the desk and prefer to sit closer to the desk instead so this worked out great for me. The only thing I would have loved on this desk was the ability to reverse the bottom cabinets. So glad I could do that at least with the hutch. My Staples store had this desk set up so I was able to see it before buying so no surprises for me on quality or appearance.
