For price (with $30 off of $[...]), this desk can't be beat. It provides a lot of space and stores a lot. We use it in our home office and it's made things much neater and cleaner. There's plenty of work space, wire management holes (that we love-- don't understand why this isn't standard for all desks!), and overall looks great in our guest room/home office. In terms of construction, it's not as solid as I would have hoped. It's mostly particle board which means shelf life is probably limited, but for our purposes and money constraints, it'll do. But just as a contrast, there's a lot of pre-packed furniture out there that's made of more solid wood these days...but of course, they're usually more expensive. This desk is VERY heavy and the design means that there are plenty of supports so it's not flimsy once it's been built-- still moving it around might not be highly recommended and so it'll probably never be moved again. Building the thing was a nightmare-- it took all day and I think two people were definitely required. I am very used to building furniture but I thought this was one of the worst things to build. So here are my suggestions: 1) All the screws and parts came in one big bag so my suggestion is that you take an ice tray and sort out all the screws/bolts so that it's easy to use the right one. Like other reviewers, I was a bit disappointed that the cam screws were plastic, but I had no problems with them. 2) Instead of wood dowels, this thing comes with some plastic kind of thing-- I suggest that you treat them like wood dowels and pound them in the same way versus trying to screw them in like we initially tried to do. 3) We screwed up putting on the back panels (cardboard basically), so make sure the one with the pop-out back goes against the drawer for the CPU. We reversed them and had to cut our own hole in the cardboard (so maybe thankfully, it was cardboard) for the wires...4) We also screwed up on the top shelf of cds, if you want to use the CD dividers that come with the desk, make sure you have the groove lined up facing the top. Since we didn't, we couldn't use the CD dividers, but I didn't want them anyway so no big deal-- we treat it as one more shelf to hold little things and some books. One last thing, in the picture it looks like the desktop might hang over the base a little on the sides-- I was hoping that it did because I wanted it in a particular spot over some baseboard heating-- it doesn't so the base is the same length as the desktop just in case anyone was wondering. However, the desktop does hangover the base in the back to allow for outlets, etc. (great design). All said and done, I gotta say it looks more expensive than it is and works perfectly so I highly recommend it. If you're worried that the hutch isn't very high like I was, it's not, but we're using the top as one more shelf for books and it works perfectly-- being somewhat low means that the books are easily accessible. Not too difficult to assemble, but it does take a while. Make sure you organize all the stuff you're going to use (familiarize yourself with them!) and read the directions thoroughly. Have a friend to help you. After that, putting the parts together becomes a little redundant so it's a piece of cake. I think it would also be good to glue the parts together to make it more sturdy (I used brackets on mine). I'm also planning on buying wood to support the back of my unit so that it'll last longer. Very good product for the price!

I was shopping for a desk at several different stores when I was told to try Staples. Read the reviews and was not so sure but ordered it anyway. I had it in two days. It took me and my 15 year old son 2 hours and 15 minutes to put this together. There was only one piece in the box (as one person commented, dozens of pieces duh...you need to assemble the desk) that was not clearly labeled. Other than that it was pretty self explanatory because there were pictures. For those of you that complained think back to kindergarten with picture books. This is a very nice desk and there is plenty of space. I will be ordering the other accessories too.

I really loved the way this desk looked in the picture. I loved it even more after we assembled it. It took us about 4 hours to put together but it was worth it. It's a beautiful piece and was a great price too! [...] This will be used for my home office and for personal use. My parents and my fiance's parents saw it and now want one too. [...]
