I hesitated before I purchased this product for my home office, as I could not find a sample in local stores. The only problem that I have with this cabinet is that I can't open both drawers at the same time - it will lose balance and fall. However, I don't have to open them at the same time. Over all, I am very pleased with it, given the $ I paid.

Poorly constructed

My husband took an entire afternoon to put this filing cabinet together, and when he was assembling it and putting in some screws, the particle board split apart. This is a very cheaply constructed unit, and we are very disappointed with the finished product. The upper drawer seems to be all right, but the lower drawer sticks and doesn't close freely. The only redeeming feature would be the finish, which is quite acceptable. My husband got so frustrated putting this together that he almost gave up and was planning to put it in the fireplace!

One of the worst products I have ever purchased. Its junk. Very hard to assemble and had really poor directions. The drawers have broken twice now and hardly has anything in them. The wood is cheap. Staples ignored my concerns and said that once it was together they wouldn't return it. Last furniture purchase I make at that store.

We bought this lateral file to replace a two-drawer vertical that had broken from excess weight over the years. Now we have lots of extra file storage and the vertical cabinet fits quite nicely against the wall ... more "space friendly" and easier to place in our room. We ordered it at our local Staples and used Staples Rewards to make it an even better buy! It arrived on time in great condition ... we are very happy with our purchase. Plus we placed an old printer/copier on top for making copies so the copies can be readily filed as soon as they are made. Doesn't get better than that!

I was happy with the product I saw In the store. The color, look and size were perfect for our needs. However, when assembled it was flimsy, tipped easily, and generally poorly constructed. Drawer catches. Would not recommend and will replace as soon as find something better.

  I am unable to locate a weight limit for this item, but our site indicates that it can hold the matching storage cabinet, item #718423. The Ameriwood website indicates that the unit will easily hold a printer and accessories.
