      Purchased this to put the content of the iPad screen onto a 20 inch monitor - it left a 2-3 inch border around the screen. The VGA adaptor worked way better- full screen and good refresh rate. Returned this item.

              Yes, the short side will plug into the iPad. The longer side should plug into the HDMI compatible AV product.

              Some televisions can take the AV cable but not all. If your tv does not have the correct input you need the HDMI.
