As another reviewer mentioned this is a minimalistic case, it does offer drop protection and add very little bulk. If I wanted a big bulky case I would get the otterbox. I do usually have a screen protector on the front glass and a skin on the back and this case works great. We have had two iPhones with these bumpers for three years with no incident. The lip actually keeps the back and front from touching the surface. Also slides easily in your pocket.

While the product protects around the phone, it doesn't protect the face (which could get scratched or bumped or dropped). I'm told I should have purchased something called the Otter (?).
