Bought 5 of these now for small retail outlets along with a wireless brother printer for their nightly reports.

Router goes up under the front counter, connects the two point of sale stations and debit terminals on the 4 gigabit ports. The printer hides in the back room and I do not need to run another network cable through the store with the wireless link.

The gigabit ports are great for these little setups. The point of sale software is much more responsive when the second computer does not need to wait for the slower 100Mbit ports when accessing the shared data files on the main terminal. We update the point of sale stations with a solid state disk on the main terminal to speed up customer lookups too so checkout is super quick.

I like these routers as they seem to be very stable compared to other low end consumer level gear. The wireless printer does not randomly go offline requiring the router to be restarted like the old belkin router it has replaced. It just works day after day after day.

I have turned on the QOS feature to give minimal priority to the security camera so that when the owner is streaming camera recordings from offsite it does not significantly impact the reponse time on the debit terminals or the web based gift card lookup system. Before the camera would overwhelm the upstream bandwidth and everything else over the Internet slowed to a crawl with ping time spiking to 3000ms. The camera stream works just as well as before, it just doesn't mess up all the other operations while in use. We just needed to tweak the upstream speed setting in the QOS screen to be slightly below the maximum reported by a local speed test server, I put the camera at lowest priority and boom everything else works great.

Just remember to go to the Asus website to update the latest firmware version before using these. The units out of the box are reasonably up to date but there are some important bug and security fixes in the latest and greatest firmware.

ASUS has some issues with the firmware. I did the upgrade and the router immediately stopped working. After rolling back the firmware (which is a lengthy process) it works great. Still having issues getting the printer to work with it, but that may be more due to the printer than the router.

So far this router is working great, the range is good and, I haven't had to reset it or anything since setting it up. With that being said it's only been a couple of weeks so time will tell, but overall i'm very pleased.

Excellent product. The package contains everything you need including clear, easy to follow instructions for installation. Staples cost was less than buying this same product from other supply / electronics stores. Makes a world of difference in the computer speed. Product is small, lightweight and not in the way at all. Highly recommend it!
