I read a lot of reviews before purchasing this product and the complaints about it are clearly the result of people not bothering to read the instructions before setting it up. It was fully charged and ready to use in less than two hours but I kept it plugged in for eight hours before using it on battery power only- as per instructions. It found and connected to my home network with no input from me, synced itself to the other computers on the network, downloaded and installed the latest software for my wireless printer and downloaded and installed the latest BIOS version. I really didn't have to do anything to set it up. It's fast, slick ad responsive. the battery life is at least 11 hours, probably more and it came with Office Student version free- not a trial. I've never had a computer that is so easy to set up and I'd recommend it to anyone wanting a lightweight tablet with attachable, fully keyed keyboard. It has the power to replace my laptop or desktop but I didn't buy it for that so I won't load it down with all of the business programs I use. There is absolutely nothing on the market in this price range that can offer more than this machine provides.

The computer was easy to use and set up quickly but it also started having issues right away. First the sound kept going out and a scary error message would pop up. This continues to happen now. I was temped to return it and the only thing that stopped me was I would be without a computer. It does just crash at times also. On the good side the battery lasts a long time and it's very easy to take somewhere. There are also a few problems when you separate it the keyboard on the tablet doesn't appear so you must put it back together. I would not buy another of these computers.

    Terrible Tablet

    Comments about Asus T100 2-in-1 10.1" Laptop:

Out of the box, it appears to be nice, but quickly ended there. The screen and case is a horrid fingerprint magnet. The touchscreen on this is terrible, it locks up when scrolling thru webpages al the time. Next big issue is the power button, which only sometime works, everytime it's shut down,,it takes a lot of effort to turn back on. The battery lasts about 3 hours tops, no where the 11 it claims to be. Sound on this os dismal, when watching a video, can barely hear it. The micro-sub cable it came with is very short as well. There are a lot of reurbushed models all over this place, this is why. AVOID THIS.

    Comments about Asus T100 2-in-1 10.1" Laptop:

Really am enjoying the tablet. There is a huge learning curve for me with this though. Might not be as difficult if I had used a smart phone first. Love the weight of it and it is very fast. Have been able to do anything I did with my HP laptop. The charge on the battery lasts a long time. It's fun having the tablet, but enjoy being able to use a reg. keyboard. Has windows office already on it so that is a big plus. This is my first time using windows 8 and have not had any trouble. I enjoyed not having to install all our printers, it just picks up the printer depending which house we're at.

    Excellent Hybrid

    By Jason Chamberlain

    Comments about Asus T100 2-in-1 10.1" Laptop:

I have been using Android tablets for about 3 years. I kind of got into the mindset that there are some things that you do with a tablet and some things you do with your PC. I found that I don't do a lot of PC things anymore because I really like the convenience and portability of the tablet.

But I wanted to start learning about Windows 8 and I liked the idea of a hybrid, so I gave this a shot. So far I have really enjoyed using this hybrid. There are times when it is nice to pop off the keyboard and use it as a tablet. Most of the time I have the keyboard attached and use it as a small laptop. Either way, it works well for me. I really like that I don't have to separate tablet things and PC things. Now I can do everything with this single hybrid.

I deducted one star because it did take the better part of a day to get it set up. It takes a long time to install all the Windows Updates. I also find that I get some eyestrain after looking at the small type on the screen. I would like it if I could open the laptop a little farther when I have the keyboard attached.

These are all fairly small things. This machine is an excellent value. It doesn't have the horsepower of a Surface Pro 3, but if you are just looking for regular PC functions then this hybrid should serve you well.

    Great little computer

    By Jim

    from Oregon

    Comments about Asus T100 2-in-1 10.1" Laptop:

have had my ASUS T100 for a little over a week and I am now able to enjoy using it. If this computer had used Win XP or Win 7, I would have had it setup for my use in one or two days. However, because it uses Win 8.1, it has taken a full week of fiddling with this and that by trial and error (mostly errors). The computer itself is great. Very good graphics, very easy to read individual letters in Word, fast loading of the internet, etc. I have never liked touchpads (replaces a mouse). However, this has the best touchpad I've ever used. In spite of that, I still prefer a real mouse and since this computer comes with Bluetooth built in, you can use a Bluetooth mouse which is totally wireless (no dongle using up a USB connector). Be sure to get a Bluetooth mouse that uses a regular wheel for scrolling. I first bought one that uses a touch sensitive area on the top of the mouse for scrolling. This was really bad – very erratic scrolling. I took that back and have one now with a wheel and it works great. I have the touchpad turned off because otherwise I tend to accidently touch it when I am typing which causes the cursor to go crazy and I wind up typing things where I don't want them. (The Bluetooth mouse quit working. Took it and the computer to repair shop. Told that Bluetooth mice frequently get overwhelmed by wireless internet signals, etc, and generally don't perform well – frustrating. Purchased a wireless with a dongle and it works fine, but now I have to get a USB hub so I can run a printer, etc. Too bad, the Bluetooth was a nice way to go.)
To setup a computer using Win 8.1, you need to learn to use the "Charms" on the right side of the screen by resting a finger on the right edge and swiping in towards the center. Then you click or press a finger on the cog wheel icon. This then gives you many of the programs necessary to setup the computer. Another hidden area of interest is to right click or press-and-hold a finger in the lower left corner of either the "Desktop" screen or the "Start Screen". This will bring up a "context" menu that gives access to many programs needed to setup the computer. By working with these two hidden menus, you can do most of what needs to be done.
I primarily use this computer for Internet, Word, Excel, and a printer. I now have all those functions working, but it wasn't easy because of Win 8.1. And, by-the-way, to turn this computer on, open the computer lid, press-and-hold (tight) the little "on" button until (takes about 3 seconds) you see a little light come on at the upper center of the black frame. To turn off, open the "context" menu, click on "shut down or sign out" and then click "shut down". Or you can open Charms / cog wheel / power / shut down. Actually, once you have things setup the way you want them, Win 8.1 works very well from either the "Desktop" screen or the "Start Screen".
