This is my first pair of noise-canceling headphones so I haven't compared to other units. I bought this because I had a special discount for a purchase at Staples. I have found them to be especially useful for listening to music while mowing the lawn or performing other noisy tasks. I haven't yet tried them for traveling. They don't suppress background noise as much as I expected but they work well enough for me to be able to clearly hear music while I am mowing. I can still hear the lawnmower but it is not overpowering and it is probably safer that I can still hear some ambient sounds. The strap between the earpieces does not seem to be long enough for my head so I have to position it across the back of my head rather than across the top which seems odd. It works in that orientation but seems a little awkward. I have carefully checked and can't find any way to extend the ear pieces further so don't know if this is just a quirk of my particular set or if this is an odd feature of this model. I like the case for the headphones and believe it may be useful for traveling. Overall, especially for the price I paid (about $70), I find them adequate. Not sure I would want to pay much more.

Not being a music afficianado, I was very hesitant to spend this much money on a pair of headphones! However, I gave in owing to a need/desire to listen to noise-free sound!
It works like magic. Very impressed and very happy with my purchase. Just hope it lasts long for all the $$ spent on it.

Main problem was a low but audible background hiss when the noise reduction circuit was activated. Noise reduction also was not as effective as expected. Perhaps a defective unit?
