Q: does the bis mark it fine point permanent marker stay on if i wash it in the washer? I got my team to sign their names on a tshirt with it. is it safe to wash on clothes??? Asked on 8/7/2009 by nicky from los angeles Know the answer? Answer this question 4 answers A: From the manufacturer: We do not recommend washing after you wrote on it- while these are permanent, the ink is not water resistant so the ink has the possibility/probability of running or fading while washing. If you need to wash we suggest hand washing. From us: We do carry markers that are water resistant but they are not specifically designed to write on clothing and go through washing. They will not fade immediately- but will fade. The item number is 613972 Sharpie® Retractable Fine Point Permanent Markers, Assorted, 12/Pack. Answered on 8/10/2009 by Customer Care from Staples A: In my experience, yes, they write on fabric and stay on fabric. Yes, it should be safe to wash with other clothes, but wash separately at first if that would make you feel better. Good luck. Answered on 9/9/2009 by Erica from PA A: This has been the case any time we have applied the permanent marker to fabric. You might want to heat set (by pressing with iron) before washing, just to be sure. However, since they are permanent, they should do fine. Hope your team enjoys them. Answered on 8/10/2009 by Granny from Nunnelly, TN 37137 A: We had the opposite problem. My daughter wrote on her white shirt and we wanted to wash it out. It did not come out at all with the normal throw it in and add bleach to the load. But we were able to get all of it out with oxi-wash and some scrubbing. Hope this helps.
