Because of the color, I maybe wouldn't use this in a "professional" setting. However, I've been using these pens to correct & grade college students' papers for many years and I'm in love with them! They aren't as drastic as red and yet the ink still shows up clearly for students to see my editing/comments. I'm thinking other reviewers here got a "bad batch" because I've always found this pen to produce nice DARK purple ink. Also, when I was in grad school, I used these pens to take notes in really long lectures, so I know they also glide really well and write nice and quickly/cleanly. Basically, I'm sad every time these pens run out of ink (which is at a pretty normal rate for ballpoint pens that get a lot of use!). On the other hand, I'm not really a "pen snob" - I only value high quality function (not necessarily perfect prettiness). So if you are into more artistic writing utensils, these probably aren't for you.

I love purple ink pens. I decided to go with Bic this time figuring they're THE name in ink pens and I would get a smooth flowing pen. I'm so disappointed with these pens! You write a few words then the ink dries up. Then you have to scratch the pen on another piece of paper to get the ink flowing again, write a few more words, then repeat the process. Whatever you're filling out looks awful because the ink goes from dark to light every few words. I thought it was just one bad pen but I pretty much went through 1/2 the box and they all did the same thing. What a waste of money!

I was disappointed at the quality of this pen - I thought the ink appearance was too light for a medium point pen. I will be taking these back for a refund!!!

I sign all my letters in purple and these are the best purple pens I've found! I'm left handed so they smear sometimes but the pen is comfortable to grip and light weight ...............

I originally owned the Bic Round Stick Grip med pen in purple. GREAT PEN.

Since they don't make it anymore, I ordered this one. Same nice color, but not as comfortable to hold and the ink does not flow as smoothly. Unfortunately, they tried to "improve" on a good thing and it didn't work.
