    When I first saw this product years ago, it had only a 3 hour shut off. I wanted a switch to shut off my electric blanket, because after an hour or so I always wake up too hot. So the three hour shut off was not what I needed, although the shut off concept was. I was delighted to see recently that this switch now has 3 different shut off time options, including 30 minutes. This is absolutely perfect for my intended use and needs. Also, I saw this during the recent 15% off sale, so I bought 2 at a very good price. Could not find it at that price anywhere else. I'm thrilled. I also use it to charge my cell phone. I mostly use the half hour setting, and if necessary set it a second time. If my phone is very run down, I'll use the 3 hour setting. I'm sure I'm saving money. I really love it and get a lot of use from it already, and it isn't even winter, which is when I'll really love it. The button to turn it on seems a little loose and flimsey, but it is working fine, and I expect no problems. This item will always get light, gentle use. I can envision that there are many other uses to which it could be put. Example--needing to receive a fax but don't want to leave the fax machine on all day when I'm away the whole day. Set it on 3 hours and tell the sender the time limit. This would not only save electricity, but also free up my phone line for callers to reach my voice mail. This is a really useful and versatile item. Go for it!!

    The switch stopped working. It will not stay on at all. In my original review on 7/25/12, I mentioned that the switch seemed flimsey. Well, on 8/3/12 it stopped working. I have not yet contacted the manufacturer to find out what resolution they offer, but will do so. Also have not yet tried the second one of these that I bought, but will do so now. I really hope they stand behind their product and replace it with one that will work because I really like the function design of this product. If it will work reliably for a long time, I'll love it. If it doesn't work reliably then it is worthless. At this point I don't know which is the case.

        This is a simple way to save the energy wasted by TVs and accessories that are always on.

        Plug your devices that suck power in standby, i.e. just about everything except an LCD TV, into a powerstrip and plug that into this switch.

        To watch TV you press the button. The system comes on and stays on for 3 or 6 hours depending on how you set the switch. Then it turns off and stays off until you push the button again.

        By switching off a FIOS cable box on a rarely used TV this switch will pay for itself in just over a year. Throw in a plasma TV and it will pay for itself in no time.

        Do not use this on a DVR you've set up to record programs. It won't come. You want a digital timer for that.
