    The firewire failed to maintain a connection between my video camera and computer. I was unable to have the event I was taping recorded on the computer. For the next event I was provided with a firewire from the software developer and it worked fine. The wire was from a different manufacturer.

                I don't know why the customer care rep response says, "No". Perhaps in January/February of 2010, when the question was originally posed and answered, this was in fact the case. I recently (August 2012) purchased the cable while traveling because I had forgotten to bring my 'i-link' cable with me. The labeling on the package clearly reads, "Apple FireWire and Sony i.LINK compatible". I have now used this cable between my Sony DCR-TRV480 camcorder and my Win 7 Laptop and it works just fine.
