Belkin Windows 8 Data Transfer Cable

I read the instructions, and followed them to the letter. After three tries, it transferred the information I was trying to transfer from the old computer to the new computer. There was initial frustration when things did not come out. The computer was working faster than I work, and when I caught up to where the computers were, It came together as if I was a computer genius. I am pleased with the results. If I had not purchased my computer as a house Christmas gift in November, I would have had Staples transfer the information courtesy of Staples. Instead I waited until Christmas to open the gift, and was outside of the 30 day offer to transfer files by a professional free( Staples service representative courtesy of Staples).

Unprofessional Service

I have learned one thing from this transaction. Do not go to staples without first researching thoroughly the exact item I need. I asked for a transfer cable to transfer date from an XP laptop to one running Windows 7. The salesperson sold me one for Windows 8 informing me that it would work just as well and that was all Staples cardried. Now I find that you carry at least 6 and this one might work on 7 but it won't work with XP. I cannot return it because the clerk did not include the receipt inthe bag as I asked her to do. I am really tired of the unprofessional, disrespectful service at this store.

Used Belkin in the past to transfer from XP to Windows 7 so I knew the capabilities. Worked great from Windows 7 to Windows 8. Very happy to be able to do this so easily.

This cable does everything that I wanted it to do . The only thing it didn't do was transfer Firefox and chrome . My complete desktop in windows 7 was transfered. Everything in all my files ,docs,music,videos, downloaded items, was done in less than an hour.

  The answer is yes that the Belkin Windows Data Transfer Cable will allow you to move you web browser Favorites from Vista to Windows 8. But then you don't need a data cable to accomplish that you can also do with a flash drive using the browser's export function.

  The Belkin Windows 8 Transfer Cable will work with any version of Windows, but is meant for transferring data from an older computer to a new computer with Windows 8. Belkin advises the Easy Transfer Cable (item 805645) will work on a Windows XP and Vista 64 bit systems.

  This device is meant to be used with an older system with an older version of windows installed. It is meant to transfer files to the new windows 8 system. So Yes it will work with older systems. For mac you can use the Switch to Mac cable that Belkin makes.
