    Looks Good, Smells Bad

    I am disappointed in this case. It has a neat, professional appearance, and the leather is very soft and smooth to the touch. The device also snaps easily into the rubber frame.

    An elastic band keeps the case closed, which is a nice touch. A metal BlackBerry logo is on the front, and BlackBerry is embossed on the spine, though the logo material appears somewhat cheap.

    The case features cut-outs for ports, camera, etc. and rubber keys to operate the power and audio controls. Unfortunately, the rubber keys do not make proper contact with the device controls, rendering them inoperable.

    The worst part about the case is its very strong, unpleasant smell. The leather smells very strongly of petroleum products, so strongly that I felt ill after removing it from the packaging. If you enjoy the smell of leather, you will NOT enjoy this case.

    Also, the flap is too stiff to fold over, making the case unwieldy.

    The bottom line is for the price, I expected a more pleaseant and functional accessory.

      I love my Blackberry Playbook and the Journal Case keeps it safe. I've dropped it on the floor in the case and been confident that my Playbook would survive. It is flexible yet sturdy. It travels well in my purse and also in the car in this Journal Case. I highly recommend the Journal Case. The ONLY improvement that could be made is to have the outlets for the charger accessible while the case is closed.

        This is a decently made product that is light and provides fair protection of the front and the back of the Playbook. The sides are a little explosed, but it is not a major issue as long as you store and carry it carefully.
