Just What I Needed
This hit the spot with: smaller size, wired and wireless networking, duplexing, laser, and nice price. So far, I would buy this again.

Bought this when our ancient HP-4L finally needed retiring. I'd not been too keen on Brother's inkjets, but this home office laser was well rated on various websites. I looked forward to the its modern features (wireless/ethernet/usb, duplexing, resolution) and great price on sale plus Staples 10% coupon. The HP4L seemed to have better quality in its prime, was quieter and used less power. The Brother's fan is noisy but acceptable because it goes to sleep soon enough. I also needed a stronger UPS, because the Brother's higher wattage crashed my small UPC on power up. But the Brother's convenience, flexible printing abilities and value made up for it's lighter prints and power issues. Unfortunately, after several weeks of light use, the printer continues to fail grabbing the paper in the tray 90% of the time and reports "no paper." I thought it might be due to cheap paper stock, but it failed with better paper, too. Sometimes, the only way to get a print is to remove a sheet and feed it through the manual slot. It's incredibly frustrating and annoying. Thankfully, I added a Staples warranty because the sale price was so cheap, so I can exchange the unit locally without the hassle of a warranty claim through Brother. I'm praying my unit is just a lemon, but we'll see after I exchanged it.
Comments about Brother® HL-2270DW Mono Laser Printer:
Haven't found any faults with the printer or it's printing. Drivers (wireless!) were easily installed. Got the 2 year extended warranty for state side service (a no brainer), didn't want to talk with someone in India (yes really..)
Comments about Brother® HL-2270DW Mono Laser Printer:
Wireless setup was a pain. You have to do a hard reset every time you need to change wireless settings. I'll get it working eventually, but for now it's set up as a shared USB printer on the network.
Comments about Brother® HL-2270DW Mono Laser Printer:
Love this printer. Compact footprint; prints wirelessly from all our family computers; good quality. Uncomplicated setup. Doesn't do fancy color or photos, but for regular document printing, can't be beat.
Comments about Brother® HL-2270DW Mono Laser Printer:
I use the Brother for tax return preparation as well as occassional personal use. A little slow to start up, but simple to use and duplexes well. Less bulky than the Dell I'd used previously. So far, so good.
Yes, the printer can be configured for both wireless and wired printing. It has built-in 802.11b/g and Ethernet interfaces to share with others on your network or connect locally to a single user via its USB interface.
