I've had a Brother mono multi-function laser printer for 6 years. I use it for tax returns so I have put about 60,000 pages through it, and I have only chnaged the toner and cartridge - no other maintenance besides an annual cleaning. I bought a smaller mono MFC to work at home. Both are work-horse printers. I had a Samsung color laser that was inexpensive to buy, but the toner was very expensive, and it was a hog - noisy, big, heavy and slow. It finally died - thank goodness. So, I looked at Brother again. The overall size is about medium for a low cost color laser. It is heavier than a mono printer of the same dimensions, but not too heavy. The print speed is as advertised and that meets my needs. I gave it 5 stars because it does what Brother says it will do. That makes it tops in this price range.

Brother Laser Color Printer

I was disappointed in the Brother after having used an OKI Printer. I was able to get the OKI repaired and decided I prefferred fixing an older printer as opposed to buying a new printer with inferior quality. The color ranges were not great for the type of printing I needed.
If you are using it for a daily printer it might be fine, but not for high quality print. I also had issues making it work with my network.

This printer will not even attempt to print using the bypass feed. It automatically goes into jam mode everytime you first use the bypass regardless of the type of paper you want to print on.

Used for everyday business needs including powerpoint handouts. Excellent printer with a relatively small footprint compared to other color laser printers. Good quality of colors. Too early to tell how the toner consumption is. I ended up buying one for home too.

Primary reason for selecting it was above average print speed and by-pass feed for envelopes. Lived up to expectations on the print speed but was a bust with envelopes, constantly giving a "paper jam" warning even though nothing was jammed. Exchanged it for a different brand that has worked out fine. [...] Truly first class.
