Item would SEND faxes fine but would not feed the paper through properly when receiving. This began from the very first time used - Staples and Brother insisted on performing warranty work instead of replacement. FOR A NEW ITEM?? Because this is a necessity for a small business, messing around with warranty work when the product is brand new is unacceptable. Because it was new, a refund or replacement (or compromise) should have been offered - I would have taken the replacement. As a result, there will be no more Brother or Staples purchases from me. Buyer beware when purchasing such an item - validate the return vs. warranty issue no matter what you buy!
Comments about Brother® IntelliFAX® 2820 Laser Plain-Paper Fax:
My main reasons for purchasing this fax were ease of use, large capacity for blank paper, large memory, laser quality output. I am using this strictly for faxing and it is working well although the incoming faxes are not as clear as I'd hoped (this could be due to the source). I especially like how fast the fax goes through. Time will tell how often I need to replace toner drums/cartridges but so far so good. I even purchased a second machine for our shop. Although my guys are typically "fax challenged" this machine is working great for them also...that says a lot!
What can be done when the pages that are faxed have to be hand fed one by one or be helped along? If not they stick together and go through as one page.
The ADF on the Brother machine can hold up to 20 pages or 30 pages and feeds each page individually. Use standard 20 lb paper. Always fan the pages before you put them in the ADF. Do not pull on the document as it is feeding through the ADF. Do not use paper that is curled, wrinkled, folded, ripped, stapled, paper clipped, pasted, or taped. Do not feed cardboard, newspaper, or fabric through the ADF. Do not feed paper with wet ink or liquid correction fluid through the ADF. Do not leave a thick document on the flat scanner glass. Doing so may cause the ADF to jam. CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Your question is specific in nature and will need to be discussed with Brother directly. Please call (800) 284-4329.

A:
The sticking of the papers may be associated with buildup on the feeders inside the machine. Taking the machine apart and looking for any paper buildup, as well as cleaning the moving parts may help in this problem.

Q:
When a fax goes through, where does the paper land? Is there a tray or something to catch the paper?
In the photo, the faxes come out of the opening right above the blue button in the center of the fax, there is a small flip out tray to support several received faxes.

Q:
Do we have to have a transmission report every time we send? Can we get only l per day?
The Brother FAX2820 does not have to print a transmission report every time you send a fax. To stop your Brother machine from printing a transmission report each time, please follow the steps listed in the user manual. Also, you will not be able to program your Brother machine to print a transmission report once a day, however, you can program your Brother machine to print a fax journal once a day.

Q:
How can I get a confirmation after a document was faxed without printing out a seperate piece of paper Can we get a confirmation on the document itself?
Asked on 6/9/2011 by Anonymous from Los Angeles Ca
The fax will print a Transmission Verification Report. This report lists the time and date of transmission, fax number and whether the transmission was successful. It can be turned off so as not to print each transmission, but will print a report if the fax transmission has failed.
