(1) I don't care for bubble jet printers and faxes (use too much ink and are loud and shake when printing), so I wish they made a Laser version;

(2) Cordless phone is great!, but the Answering Machine has issues and could be improved on. It doesn't disconnect for hang-ups and, therefore, you get a ton of recordings of just blank space.

Help! We have this machine, but only one book came with it and we are trying to figure out how to use the "message center" maybe we were mislead? Is this an answering machine??? If so anyone know how to work it? Thanks!

This item could not be set up without reading the instructions - more than once. I tried and failed several times, but ultimately got it working. Not the fastest faxer, but it meets my occasional needs. I would note that I have one phone line with three numbers. The fax supports that, but it was difficult to set up. The portable phone is a great addition.

Three major issues keep this from being a great machine for the money. The biggest issue is the huge volume of ink this baby goes through. Brother's estimate of 500 sheets per ink cartridge is ridiculously high and is more like 250-300 "normal" sheets. At $14-19 for each ink cartridge it gets real expensive very fast. I've never even printed, faxed or copied anything in color yet the cyan & yellow cartridges ran out in about four months. What is that all about? The other very annoying thing about this unit is that faxes and copies are printed and stacked in reverse order so with every print you have to re-shuffle the pages back to the correct order. If you get medium to large faxes this soon becomes an absolute pain in the neck. The last thing I dislike is the inability to cancel an incoming fax which is very frustrating if someone sends you a fax twice; it's a waste of precious ink and paper. These three items, while seemingly small, make me regret I didn't pick up a better unit but this was the only one at the time that had a wireless phone and that feature was important to me.
