Cheaper to buy in bulk.

I have 2 printers...one inkjet and one laser. The inkjet is an All-in-One and I try not to use it to make b/w copies. Instead I will go through the extra trouble to scan the document and then print from the laser printer.

Ink is very expensive and I am constantly replacing the cartridges. I wish there was a way to refill them or even a Staples brand equivalent like I see with the HPs.

The quality of the inkjet is pretty good and seem to dry quickly on standard white paper but when I print business cards, I need to give it extra time to dry or else the cards will smear.

It's cheaper to buy in a 3-pack but I seem to always have extra yellow cartridges lying around my office.

Would I recommend this product? Well, you don't really have a choice if you have a Brother MFC-5440CN...because you are forced to buy replacement cartridges.

Cartridges are OK...but to expensive....price should be lowered. Costs me almost $80.00 to buy all the cartridges at once...including the color pack and the black cartridge...Costs to much....

After using refilled cartridges for awhile, we went back to purchasing the Brother brand. What a difference! We get clean documents, no leaks, no smudging, and dollar for dollar, better output and a longer life for each cartridge. We're sold on getting them from Staples and will not revert to refills again!

I use my computer to score standardized tests, and am required to print the learning essays and directions for scoring, as well as models for points. It does a good job of printing students handwriting - a necessary factor.
I often print out photos for family or my "heritage album." It does well with colors and black and white.
I sometimes edit manuscripts and novels as a part time job and the fact that I can print them in gray as well as black helps when I have to print hundreds of pages. The gray is still clear and easily readable.
