Make your print cartridges last longer

I found a way to make the print carts last many times longer. If you pull out the cart. and look at the end there is a window that the software can tell how much ink is left in it. Take a small piece of electrical tape (works best) and cover the window. Replace cart back in printer and tell the printer that it is a new cart. "Follow the setup procedure!"
I did this and I have already printed about 10 times more docs after the printer said I was out of ink than before when it was full. And I am STILL printing with the empty cart's, Sometime I am going to run out of Ink but I have gotten about 4 times the life from the stock cartridge's (so far) with this little trick.
Once you do this it is actually a nice printer for the price!

I had high high hopes as I have to scan dozens of small photos/papers at times and I thought this machine can be a good answer. After unpacking it turns out that the scan to PDF function works reasonably well, but in order to do that you must have all ink cartridges installed first, even if you do not want to use the printer part. Another annoying thing is lack of flatbed or something which will allow me to scan/copy small things such as UPC codes for rebates. Scan quality is okay but the speed could have been better.

please see all of the cons i wrote above. i could not understand why the Copy function would not work. turns out, ALL COLOR CARTRIDGES MUST BE FULL. that means, a few times a year, you have to spend $35 (if you buy a 3-pack), plus the $24 for the black to be able to continue to use this product. THIS PRODUCT IS WAY TO EXPENSIVE TO OPERATE.also, the paper tray NEVER can be removed, UNLESS you remove the back piece of product and stick your hands underneath the white rollers, WHILE you are pulling the paper tray. i can tell you this is a pain in the neck and it also hurts your hands/fingers to do.very expensive product to maintain. the ink may be cheaper than other advertised brands, but i think the manufacturers should get on the bandwagon to create an all-in-one which can be used ONLY with black ink. i, myself, do not use the color function, so i really should have had the ink cartridges for a very long time, but, in fact, that was not so.very unhappy!

Print greeting cards with the included boarderless function, ink price is acceptable with individual ink tanks, fax works without a hitch, Scanner, although it is a feed through style, along with copier works well, paper tray works good for everthing from 4X6 photo paper to envelopes, etc. Works great in all functions[...]! Can't say enough and am well pleased thus far.

The major problem with this machine is that all the color ink cartridges must be full in order to even print in black and white. This is a waste of money for people who really mainly use black and white. Worst of all, we had never even printed a single color page when, after 3 months, our machine decided that our color cartridges were "empty." Apparently they had dried up. So in order to print at all we would have had to buy all new color ink cartridges. Also, we like to leave the machine unplugged when not in use to free up the outlet and for energy efficiency. Every time we plugged it back in it would have various error messages that we would have to fix before being able to fax/copy. A major waste of time and cause of frustration. If you copy in color all the time, perhaps this machine would work out better for you. It is quick, quiet, and takes up one page at a time smoothly. For copying, a flat-bed machine is much more appropriate as this machine will only do single, regular-weight, full-size sheets of paper well.
