This was a repalcement for my MFC-6800. The good: the new one does auto duplexing is networkable and scans documents fo PDF. The bad: envelopes must be fed one-at-a-time so using the printer to send mailings to groups of using a database or mail list is a tedious pain. I keep the old printer set up just so I can address envelopes by the stack. The old one would no longer scan because Windows7 didn't support it but a scanner costs the same as a multifunction printer, so I bought a new Brother to replace the old. Still the most economical toner cartridges and a great price.

I only buy Brother products because of their reliable equipment. I got this printer to replace a 6 year old Brother printer. I am so very pleased with the machine.

Yes, according to the manual, you can create a PDF file from a scanned document. http://www.brother-usa.com/ModelDocuments/Consumer/Software%20Users%20Manual/SUM_MFC_7360N_7460DN_7860DW_EN_2847.PDF

A:
Yes, that is correct, this printer does not create PDF's. A PDF is created by a program writer such as Adobe Acrobat. You may then use the "scan to" features on this printer, which include E-mail, file, image, OCR and FTP.

Q:
Will this printer print Courier New font? I have heard some printers will not.
To print envelops with the Brother MFC-7460DN Laser Multi-Function Printer you have to use the manual feed function and feed them one at a time.

Q:
I have a Dell laptop with wireless capacity. How hard will it be to configure this printer to the wireless function? Also, I will need to scan both letter and legal documents. Can the scanner handle legal sized documents? And vista or windows 7 are both compatible? Thanks
This printer is designed to be shared on a wired network, I am sorry; it is not a wireless printer. Yes this printer can handle both letter and legal size paper. Windows Compatibility : Windows®7 / Windows Vista® / XP / XP Professional x64 / 2000 / Server 2003 / 2008^

Q:
What is the page/print capacity of its toner set at 5% page coverage - and is there a high capacity toner/drum? Also, can the USB cable 2.0 speed it needs be extended (joined if need be) to cover a 15' distance or more? Finally, is both a replacement drum and replacement toner cartridge needed to keep on printing after it uses up whatever print-making materials it may be shipped with - or can it continue printing with just a replacement toner cartridge?
Item #889139 is the Black Toner Cartridge which yields up to 1,200 pages. Item #889863 is the Black Toner Cartridge, High Yield which yields up to 2,600 pages. Item #889092 is the Drum Cartridge which yields up to 12,000 pages. Item #847297 is the Staples 16' Gold Series A/B USB 2.0 Cable. What's in the Box? Q:
Can you add a paper tray to enable legal size printing at the same time as regular size printing (like I can with my MFC8500)? If not which model can I do this with?
The above has a paper tray to handle letter or legal size document. It does not print at the same time. If you would like to place an order, please call us at 800-333-3330. You also have the option to order online.

Q:
Does this printer come with Paper Port software as the earlier models did? If so, is it Paper Port 11?
