Wow! I was renting a large copier/scanner/printer/fax for a ridiculous amount of money monthly because I never thought I could find a reasonably priced machine that could scan documents as quickly as this one can. First of all, I think ALL manufacturers need to do much better in writing their specs on scanning capabilities. Most will tell you how many pages per minute their machine will print, fax or copy, but none tell you how fast the scanner works. [...] I bought this because it was recommended by a friend and she told me it scans pretty well. I was skeptical but bought it thinking I could return it if it didn't work to my satisfaction. I'm trying to work in a paperless environment and therefor scan everything into PDF's. I had to play with the settings quite a bit to get it to work to my satisfaction but I can tell you that it scanned a 45 page document package in about 2 minutes through the document feeder after lowering the quality (and still very good). That to me is the best feature of this machine! I've only had it for a couple of weeks but thus far am very impressed. The paperport system which helps you organize and save documents into files works beautifully! My only regret is not having found this machine earlier. I would have saved a bundle last year in rental fees!
