With its large touch screen color LCD panel, the Brother InkJet printer has an easy-to-use menu navigation system, which makes programming easy. The printer offers a variety of options including automatic duplex printing and an ink save mode, which detects the edges of your images and prints the outline. It also has a 250-sheet input tray, which is ideal for large print jobs.

Multifunction

Suprisingly good printer

I was skeptical about this printer becuase of the features and the price. Usually wide format printers with those feature can run a really a high cost. Anyway, the printer has a slightly flimsy construction. The directions point this our clearly as it states to do everything gently. Setup was complicated until I tossed the directions in the garbage and just did what I knew how to do and most people would know too. The software it comes with is only valid for 2 computers however the drivers are unlimited. I installed the drivers on 9 computers, with ease, straight from the disc provided. XP and Windows 7 both recognized it right away and easily married with my other programs. I am actually very satisfied as of now with it but i worry the flimsy construction will render it a short shelf life. So far so good though.

Installation problems

The drivers for this printer refused to install properly on my Windows 7 Professional 64-bit machine. Brother tech support was pleasant, but had no answer regarding why the printer driver wouldn't install, and said it was a Microsoft error so I should call them. I them downloaded the Mircosoft updated drivers and the printer still refused to load properly. I had to exchange the machine for an Epson All-In-One, which installed perfectly the first time. I was disappointed because the Brother machine seemed well-made, but if the drivers aren't compatible withe the computer then this well-built machine is just a paper weight taking up room on my desk.

My husband set it up to get to using it. I still need to find time to read the book. Not staying on setting to print on both sides but I think I'm not doing something right. It could be a little smaller. It's my first brother. I really like it.

Upgraded from a MFC-240C. This is a much larger unit. I have found Brother printers to be very reliable. They have a tendency to be a bit on the noisy side but nothing that you can't live with. Easy setup! This printer is shared between 3 computers with no problems.I highly recommend this printer. Excellent printer for the price,ink is cheap and unit is very reliable. Instructions are very clear. Easy to use touch screen.Ink saver & 2 sided printing options are nice!Great unit for small business/home office/personal use

I previously owned a Brother All in One that lasted over 10 years and was trouble free the entire time. So buying another Brother was a no brainer. This machine is terrific, much faster than my older one. It holds 250 sheets of paper in a concealed tray and holds up to 35 sheets in the ADF. The print speed and quality are great. Also I scan all my business doc's into my computer, this unit scans very fast. I have nothing neg to say about this product. You wont be disappointed with this under $200.00 MFC

I needed to upgrade from a Canon MX 860. Great machine but limited to 11 x 14 max. I needed 11 x 17, so The Brother MFC-J5910DW fit the requirements. It was up and running in about 5 minutes of set up time. The wireless feature works perfectly. This machine does it all, including printing in 11 x 17 (reason for the upgrade). All my computers in my network have now access to a great printer. Highly recommended!

I have long been a fan of Brother. I have never been disappointed in their quality, service and reliability. I still have a MFC8500 that keeps turning out quality print job, scans and copies effortlessly, and it is 13 years old. This new printer will serve a similar purpose but for my wife who is wanting to scan many pictures she has accumulated over the years. It was easy to set-up and is very intuitive to operate. I liked ordering from the web and took advantage of a great sale price. I enjoyed the ability to ship to the store. Normally I would ship to my house, but I knew I was going to be away that day, and I didn't want it sitting out on the front step all day. So, I shipped to my nearby store, less than 5 miles away and picked it up there. The only negative about this: I was supposed to receive an email telling me it arrived, but didn't get it. A minor issue, but needs to be addressed. Don't promise what you won't deliver. All in all I am pleased with this purchase.

  I apologize for the confusion; the Brother MFC J5910dw printer can scan documents up to 8.5" x 11.7" and can save them in multiple formats, including PDF.
  
  Though it cannot scan documents that large, the max printing size is 11"x17".

Q:
I have had this printer for a month and still cannot install it. It is asking to connect it to my lap top initially using the USB cord while installing. The printer did not come with a USB cord and looks like it has to be a double sided cord (same - male - USB plug on the lap top and on the printer). I cannot find this cord anywhere even looking on line. Can someone please let me know where i can find it?

  On the Brother MFC-J5910dw Inkjet All-in-One Printer 11 x 17 paper is handled from the bypass tray, the standard tray is 8 1/2 x 11. You can select to print only in black & white. The print will still print in black and white, if color is out.
