This is a real work horse of a printer. I'm in the document scanning business and usually scan to disc. However, occasionally I'm asked to print paper which is why I'm reviewing this printer at this time. I've had it for a couple of years now and it's done everything I've asked of it and has never let me down. In fact, I'm printing a job a the time of this review. The drum light is blinking. I don't have another drum on hand and the new the drum won't get here until tomorrow. So I'm trying to stretch as much as I can out of the present drum. Here's the good part. It hasn't stopped printing yet. I've printed well over 1,000 pages and getting closer to 2,000 with the drum light on. The print quality has not suffered at all. It just keeps printing and printing. I'm really impressed with all I'm getting out of this unit. I'll keep printing until the drum fails and then patiently wait for Staples to deliver the new one tomorrow. It was ordered in-store today and expected delivery is tomorrow. One day service just adds to my satisfaction with the Brother Printer and Staples Customer Service. Both get a bit plus from me.

Many laser printers incorporate the Photomechanical unit with the toner cartridge ie HP. It appears that the EHL-5340D printer uses separate items: the toner cartridge and the drum (photomechanical unit) Why two items and not one?
