Bought two for an art room. These are very heavy, made of thick particle board. Except for the back, which is essentially thick cardboard covered in wood-toned contact paper. Paper veneer is what covers this thing, and it's incredibly fragile.
A minimum of connecting hardware holds this thing together. I don't think they could have put less effort into this product if they had tried. I've assembled a LOT of these types of case goods (desks, large book shelves, and so on) and this was the poorest execution I've seen.
Do NOT use this with often-used books -- I suspect the cheap wood-print paper will wear out quickly. And nothing sharp on top. And don't bump into it or it might break. And definitely don't bump the bottom trim piece ever with your foot; it's held on with three small wood pegs and drops of glue. You can treat it like a statue, though.

This has to be by far the best series of bookshelves that I've personally owned. I bought 2 of the Royal oak ones a while back, and loved them. I recently went back and redecorated the room that they were in so I went with the Cherry. All I can say is these are outstanding. The shelves hold the weight extreemly well, are wide enough to hold a very nice compliment of books and also display my collectible items very well. At this rate, as long as these are made, Bush has a customer.

The fasteners to attaching the top & bottom cross members to the sides leave too much play, making it hard to make sure the shelving unit is actually square. Result comes up slightly askew.
