    Heavy Duty Shelf

    I purchased this item to sit in my Guest room and hold books and other items. It was SUPER SUPER heavy (I am strong, but this was almost beyond my ability to even slide it along the carpet while it was still in the box it was so heavy, and my back was sore from it).

    It was well packed, and went together pretty fast. However, when "hammering" in the super tiny "screws" in the back (yes you hammer them, not screw them for some reason, even though they have a phillips head on them) I lost about 1/2 of the screws when the tiny heads snapped off of the stem, and I was being very gentle. As as result, the back panel is a bit floppy and I cannot "press" my books against the back of the shelf or it will "bow" it out.

    Also- I was looking for a "white maple" shelf. This is more of a "cherry maple", but it is very pretty, with very nice grain. The color is very nice, but just a bit more pink than I was expecting. But, in the end- it is a great VERY heavy duty shelf that looks GREAT in the room.

    Make sure you have a burly man around to help you move it in the house. And I would recommend putting it together where it will end up. I had to have help from my boyfriend just to place it up agaist the wall.

    The bookshelves have a lovely finish and were fairly easy to assemble. I ordered three sets of bookshelves. Every unit had a problem with the backing at the rear of the bookshelf. It was not cut to fit the bookshelf properly. They were not cut to fit corner to corner and flush with the edges of the bookshelves. I had to trim two of them and it was very difficult. Because the backing did not fit properly, when I placed books on one and pushed them back on the shelves a little, the backing came off the back and I had to reinstall it. Overall, the bookshelves are average and definitley a good value. I use them for storage of books and notebooks in my home office.

            Couldn't be happier with these bookcases. Bought 2 of the 3-shelf cases and one 5-shelf. They look very nice after they were put together and loaded with books. In fact, I purchased one more of the 3-shelf bookcases a couple days ago. They seem sturdy with enough width and depth to fit all book sizes.
