I would estimate two hours each including unpacking, inspecting, and assembling.The bookcase is very sturdy but as with all of these types of products, the backing is a folded and flimsy cardboard. Even when stretched out and nailed to the frame the creases are very obvious. To keep the cardboard from looking and/or getting wavy, we nailed three 1" x 1/4" fir boards across the back (those were purchased separately).The bookcase is attractive although if you're looking for something that looks like "real" wood, this is not the bookcase for you. It is made of veneers/laminate just as the description reads. All in all, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs some storage space at a very reasonable price.

This product has flimsy construction. The backing is flimsy and cheap.
The metal shelf supports are too small and flimsy.
The product should have 2 fixed bookshelves to provide a stronger bookcase.

Ours are holding a lot of heavy books & still look great. We have 3 different shades of trim in the room and the bookcases blend well with all of them.

I did a little research.Then I looked at The specs and this fit my need very well[...], followed the intructions and had it done in all assembled in a little ove an hou, with some assitance from my grandson.I am really happy with this bookcase, may buy another.

The screws that replaced the nails on my other bookcases backing that came with this unit destroyed FIVE(5) CRAFTSMAN PHILLIPS HEAD BITS, 2 SCREW DRIVERS, and left my hands/arms sore from putting them in. Bring back the nails. You can put in ringeg shank nail faster and they are just as strong.

A previous reviewer's note about a zillion screws for the back of the bookcase was unfounded. These are screw type nails that won't work themselves out with time, and can theoretically be loosened with a screwdriver. My only challenge was getting the sides perfectly parallel so nails holding the back piece would all be firmly seated in wood. Quick, easy, painless, strong and beautiful bookcase.
