I bought the entire office set (71" desk, hutch, lateral file, and book case), and I am extremely happy with call pieces (I will leave this same review on each one). Wow, I read a couple negative reviews about these pieces, and all I can say is if you want super easy to put together, solid wood, then you're barking up the wrong tree. These are veneered particle board, but that's what I wanted to pay for, and I think these are really sturdy once all the pieces are together, and very, very nice looking, functional and professional (my home office looks wonderful!). I ended up getting the maple finish and I'm so happy that's what I ended up with. Was afraid it was going to be that really anemic looking color, but it's a nice golden color. Any place there were adjustable screw holes, I just aligned mine straight down the middle, and everything line up perfectly, except one door on my hutch, and the adjustment screw took care of that. If you're not used to this type of work, I also recommend a small cordless screwdriver (even though they recommend by hand), because the power is minimal, but at least gets the screws most of the way in and saves your wrist/hand (especially if you're doing the whole set). I also had to resort to my electric screwdriver for the big screws that go in the bottom of the feet. Now those were tough to get in, and I just had to be careful with the powerful electric driver that I didn't strip them out. This is a great office set and I definitely recommend it. Oh, one other suggestion. The feet on this furniture slide fairly well on carpet if you need to move, except for the corner leg on the L-desk. So I ended up putting one of those furniture movers under it (if you've never used those, yes they really do work--they are a godsend), and then I was able to maneuver it as needed (I just left it there permanently). Good luck and enjoy a nice looking office.

Assembly directions could have been more detailed, especially for legs, they were difficult to install. The legs should be wood to complement the bookcase, they are cheesy.

I bought this piece to put in my office. My mom helped me put it together. It didn't take us very long at all and the instructions were easy to follow.
