This unit does not have a lock which is not a problem for me. Also it is very deep, 20 1/2" from front to back. I did not order the hutch, but it would help 'balance' the size of the file.

Lousy experience, nothing but trouble. The feet were an ugly brown plastic, not the silver metallic shown in the display and online. I was told I would be sent the right feet and received the same ugly brown plastic feet. Then I was told, the silver metallic feet were no longer an option. The wood pieces had a horrible chemical odor even after a week out of the box. I tried to assemble it and found the instructions to be really poor. Some pictures do not correctly show where pieces are to line up. On some pages parts are shown in the center of pieces and on other pages, the same parts are shown lining up to the edge. I can't get rid of this mess fast enough.

i hate putting things together but i always seem to buy products that require assembly. this item was fairly simple to put together for one person. not extremely heavy.

This file cabinet seemed roomy and matched the L-shaped desk and hutch I bought. However, the 2 drawers fell apart before I could really use them. I bought and installed angle braces but 3 of the plastic legs broke. I ultimately threw it away without ever getting to use it for storage. Bought a 2-drawer steel file cabinet instead; very happy with that.
