It was very overwhelming opening the box and seeing the many many many pieces to put together, and even more overwhelming opening the hardware.Once we cleared an area and got out my drill, my wife read the directions and she lined up my pieces as I did the work. Team effort we got it done in a couple hours. Once together it looked great, however I noticed how easily it scratches when I turned my toolbox around and it left a big scratch... As I said though, it looks great. It is VERY sturdy (the desk it replaced wobble when you pushed it, this one is very sturdy) It has enough surface area for me. I'm just very concerned about the finish. I may go to a paint store and ask them if there's a way to put on a couple layers of clear coat or something to protect it more. With everything in mind, and the fact that I got it on sale [...] I'd say I got a great deal. Just gotta be careful with it.

I had no problem putting the desk together. I found the pictures in the instructions very easy to understand, however once I put it together I relized how badly made this desk is. I would not call the finish of the desk "Durable" in any way, shape, or form. Any use of the desk causes scratches, and nicks in the surface of the "laminate" which is actually paper thin! I put a piece of Scotch tape on the edge of the door, to keep my toddler out of the computer tower section, and it actually RIPPED the paper surface off of the desk apon removal. Sliding the computer into the compartment resulted in scratching and gouging the desk. The desk does look great, as long as you never use it. It will not stand up to any normal wear and tear. (no pun intended!)I did not expect the desk to be solid wood, but I did expect a sturdy wood laminate, and that is not what it is made of. [...] I would recomend Staples highly, just not this desk.

After only 3 months the screws that hold the keyboard tray on chipped away at the cheap particle board under the top of the desk sending the keyboard tray, keyboard and mouse crashing to the ground, breaking the screws out of the flimsy particle board tray and bending the rails. I called the manufacturer and after they suggested that maybe I sat on the keyboard tray (!!!) they agreed to send me a new tray and rails. I told them that I won't be able to screw it into the bottom of the desk because the root of the problem was that the particle board under the desk didn't hold the screws in the first place so I can't screw the tray into the gaping holes left in the chipped particle board. They're sending me a replacement for the top of the desk as well so I'm basically going to have to disassemble much of the desk to replace the top and the keyboard tray.
Bought this for a home office that runs a business.
It is sturdy, heavy and pretty easy to assemble.
I put it together with my husband watching (not helping) in about 4 hours with a manual screwdriver. So remove 30 minutes to an hour on assembly time for Husband Interuptus.
The desk, when finished, is better quality than any pre-fab office furniture that I have put together in the past. This desk seems as if it will last. There are enough screws, bolts and fasteners keeping this together that I think it will take some abuse.
The construction allows for fairly easy breakdown into two pieces for relocation.
Only recomendations : Don't lose a single piece of hardware. It does not come with even 1 extra screw.

You will need help for one part of this assembly: Putting the top on the longest side. It is an akward and heavy step that I could not have done by myself.
Not hard, but time consuming to assemble, and it's plenty heavy so assemble real close to where it will be used. Lots of desk space with plenty of storage drawers. I added the matching hutch and two of the matching file cabinets, now everything is within arms reach. I've had this set for almost 2 years with no problems.
Well I read the reviews and was ready to do it myself. Staples was great[...] Be ready to have someone to help carry the box. I'm a strong guy but this thing was heavy! Took me about 3hrs to put together, power drill is a must! Instructions were good, just take your time. I'm happy with the purchase and the price.
