I have an iMac that is running on OS 10.6.5 Snow Leopard and the Canon software is compatible. This is definitely a plus because there aren't a lot of options there for third party Mac-compatible scanning software.
My main uses include scanning multiple-page PDF files and occasional photocopying. The software included does those things perfectly and I can really customize the settings.
The one feature that I found to be really helpful is the fact that you can photocopy things with the push of ONE button (as long as you have a printer in your network or one that is directly connected). It is so easy. You just put the document or photo in the scanner and press the "copy" button on the scanner. It will scan in and print off of whichever printer you have as your default printer. The best part? It doesn't save the image to your computer when you push the "copy" button.
All-in-all, the price was really low, the scanner is much smaller and thinner than others, and it just works. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to buy one of I could do it all over again.

My old LiDE 20 is not compatible with Win7. It worked fine in the old days: easy installation, easy USB operation, good results. So I purchased a LiDE 210 thinking things would be the same. Nope.
The LiDE absolutely refuses to communicate with my powerful Win7 desktop. I've spent *hours* trying to get past the ERROR Code 5,55,155 with absolutely no luck.
Tried it on my Win7 netbook--I am able to scan but the buttons don't work. Tried it on an XP machine at work--connects beautifully without the supplied software and works fine bi-directionally. Go figure. Cannon help service has not been helpful. I'm taking it back.
Comments about Canon CanoScan LiDE 210 Flatbed Scanner:
The directions for setup were easy enough to follow, but the scanner took a long time to perform functions. Different screens were confusing and it seemed to take forever to get my documents and pictures scanned. Most of the time I just go back to the scanning function on my copier that I have.
Comments about Canon CanoScan LiDE 210 Flatbed Scanner:
I use this quite often to scan 3 dimentional items. It is easily transportable and works fine, if not a little slow. Only gripe is the top doesn't lift up correctly to cover 3 dimentional items. I end up leaving the top up and cover the items I am scanning with paper. It fits the bill for what we are using it for.
Comments about Canon CanoScan LiDE 210 Flatbed Scanner:
I have hardly gotten to use it because it doesn't work like the last one I had, and I am having trouble finding the directions. If I go to the online manual, I can't find what I need.
Comments about Canon CanoScan LiDE 210 Flatbed Scanner:
I recently purchased this scanner and have only done some test scans. The set up was easy and the scanner works really well. I can use it through Adobe Photoshop or through it's own software. I like the preset buttons for doing quick scans. The "copy" button works just like a copier and automatically sends the scan to a printer. I find this feature very useful.

Q:
Will this scanner scan negatives and slides. My old Canon CanoScan 4400F won't work with my Windows 7 computer, but it does negatives and slides. I called Canon and had someone to help me download for my new computer and I thought It was working o.k., but now I can't get it to work. HELP!
This scanner has built-in optical character recognition, which allows you to scan documents into a program like Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat and edit it as you would a computer generated text document.

Q:
Is this scanner compatible with windows 7? Cannon LiDE 210
Yes, LIDE 210 is compatible with Windows 7 Home Premium and Pro. That was the reason I had to buy a new scanner since Canon hadn't updated the software for our older Canon EIDE 35 to run in Windows 7. Our old one still works fine in Windows XP, but not Windows 7.
