Great clarity etc but it is so noisy!!! Also - for some reason it is not compatible with many fax machines we call. Way too many failed faxes.

Although it functions fairly well as a basic fax machine, it lacks certain essential features and fails to deliver on others.

A minor annoyance is that it does not provide any positive assurance via the LCD display that a fax was properly transmitted - you have to enable a transmit report and print out the confirmation for each and every and cannot otherwise determine success/failure after the fact.

Even more annoying is that the AnswrMode appears to fucntion no different than the basic FaxOnly mode. I was hoping that if I hooked up an answering machine to the fax as instructed, it would automatically answer all calls and route any non-fax calls to the answering machine/cordless phone. Alas, it does not do so, but will pick up an incoming fax signal even as the answering machine is going through the announcement greeting.

Our disappointment with the machine is the inability to interface with an answering machine that isn't plugged into it. We've had cheaper fax machines that can automatically recognize the difference between a call and a fax, and do not require an answering machine to be plugged into the fax. As a result, we have to leave the fax function OFF and reset it manually when we need to receive a fax. Setting it to receive a fax requires a complicated menu sequence. Hubby was ready to return the machine due to this annoying complication.

We bought the machine primarily to receive occasional work related faxes, but also needed a personal fax function as well as the copy & print function. We do not use it exclusively for one or the other.
