I needed a reliable all-in-one when I started my own home office law firm. I worked for over twenty years at large law firms, and this product beats anything I ever used at those firms and at a fraction of the cost. I read the directions, which only took ten minutes, but then when I started using it, I realized that I could have just jumped right in without even reading the manual. Everything is intuitive. Even though everybody urged me to get an HP, and all of the retailers heavily feature HP, I bought a Canon because I have had such bad experience with HP computers and printers that I just didn't want to go through that misery again. I'm so glad I chose Canon. I actually look forward to printing, copying and scanning, a far cry from my past painful experiences with HP.

Bought this as a replacement for a MF5770 that gave years of good service. Easy to setup and fast but took it back after a day because of horrible paper handling. The multi-purpose feeder will not automatically feed a piece of stationary when present and you must reconfigure multi-purpose tray paper size when switching between stationary and envelopes. Called Canon customer service and was told "that's the way it was designed".
Comments about Canon imageCLASS MF5950dw Laser Multifunction Printer:
I was motivated to review this machine after the "high yield" toner cartridge ran out rather too quickly. The machine was not difficult to set up and it works well as a copier and a fax machine. The scanning mechanism is a bit cumbersome. As a printer, the quality is fine but it is inconvenient to have to go through the multi-step process every time I want to print an envelope. I can't feed multiple envelopes, it stops after each one and I have to re-press the envelope sequence. Mostly I am concerned because we spent almost $200 on a toner cartridge that was supposed to yield over 6000 copies, and I estimate we got about two-thirds that many.

Would be the perfect machine, if it wasn't for the default double sided printing. Print quality is great and its really fast. BUT double sided printing is a pain. Canon insists that you can change to single sided, but it only works half the time.

I bought this MFC from Canon after reading up extensively on Brother, Lexmark, Canon and HP. This one seemed to be the best price for what you get. I even thought it only printed duplex and didn't scan duplex (because someone answered that on Q&A saying it was not a duplex scanner) and was pleasantly surprised to find it does actually scan and copy duplex. That solidified my decision. So far I am very happy with my choice.

The Canon ImageClass MF5950dw does have the option to collate through copies and fax documents.
To activate this function you may turn collating on or off in the copy settings screen. When collate is turned on, printouts of a complete job are grouped and arranged in the following page order: "1, 2, 3" "1, 2, 3"
