Excellent Value - replaced several ink jets with this machine and have been very pleased with the result. Worked out of the box without any problems; fast, quiet, efficient, reliable, good paper handling, good quality for all images, even with very small print, and good software that just works. . This after buying nothing but HP Ink Jets for years. The last 4 HP office ink jet series, (total of 10 machines - I foolishly kept thinking they had to get better), had consistent software problems that neither HP nor their forums could help me solve, precluding consistent network functionality. I spent literally 100s of hours trying to resolve these problems. . It is a pleasure to have this Canon machine, (I have bought 2 of them - both with excellent results), (and a few Canon Ink Jets). . I did run into a software installation issue with the scanner software on two Vista machines, (installed software and used machine on 8 machines so far - XP, Win7, and Vista). After an email to Canon support, I was pleased to speak to a knowledgeable, articulate, and effective expert, who knew about the anomaly, indicated they would update the drivers to fix this issue, and worked with me to install the drivers with an effective work around. After weeks on the phone with HP folks who always blamed me or forced me to repeat the troubleshooting I had already done, this was another real pleasure. I will continue to buy Canon as long as their equipment and service remains such a good value. . Setting Expectations: • This all-in-one is heavy, and takes a lot of space. If you have back problems, find a strong friend to move it for you! I was able to lift it into place myself, but not everyone will be able to do this. Not that much more than overall space than the larger HP Business Ink Jets I had before. • The toner cartridges are not cheap. The price per page is supposedly lower than ink jets, but it doesn't seem that way to me. Again, well worth it to me.

I am returning this printer today to Staples. I have a network of Macs and simply put, Canon does not support Macs. The first tip off was the drivers don't automatically show up on a Mac and they have to be downloaded separately. Then, the drivers didn't work. Long story short, the printer sort of worked for several days, but I often had to manually intervene at the printer to get the right printer tray teed up. No way to set this up once and have it work across all software. Then, the printer drivers froze up every application that tried to print, even after I deleted the printer. I spent 45 minutes on the phone with Canon support and the best I could get was printing some images, and web links, never any text. Now, I can't print anything again.
Don't buy this printer if you intend to use with any Apple product. I can't comment on the Windows interfaces. All this is a shame as when the printer briefly worked, print quality was very good and fast.

Unit is a solid unit. I have only had it a few weeks, so I have not sat down and figured out all the settings. One thing is that when using the manual tray it wants you to select what you are printing each time, even if you tell it in the print options on the computer. There may be a way to set this to automatically detect but I have not found it. Other than that this all in one does all I need it too and with good quality.
Comments about Canon® imageCLASS® MF8350Cdn Color Laser Multifunction Printer:
After using HP printers for years, the cannon is a true step down in easy of operation. The print quality is up to HP standards but the multi-purpose tray is very flimsy, actually concerned about opening it. Then, the machine has to be told that the multi-purpose tray is in use before it feeds the paper. Speed is good from both trays if each document is the same. Add mail merge and the speed is drastically reduced.

Canon is a disappointment they don't seem to know what they are doing and like their web page they are lagging in service and they don't know their own products, or the accessories that are available or how to obtain them. It seems to me that between all of the companies that produce printers none can come out with a winner, they should be experts at it but they try to build too many models at once.
