              When Cardscan (Corex) was purchased by Dymo I said to myself, "There goes Customer Service." I was right, Dymo is horrible to deal with. I don't know if I will ever upgrade from Cardscan ver. 8.05 and am fearful of Dymo's ver 9 I've to much data to lose if their newer ver screws up and I can't get Dymo to answer any Qs about the new version or insure CS w/a # to call.

                      This product requires that you register their software online or via phone. However the online registration times out and the phone registration literally states "we are unable to take your call at this time." Apparently my 2-hour old purchase has "exceeded the grace period for activation," so I can not use the product. If you click "activate later" it closes out the software and the scanner doesn't work.

                      Unless you have a couple of hours...or days...to figure out how the "activate" their software, I would highly suggest that you buy any card scanner except one from DYMO.

                      This is the first review I have written for a product. I had to go through the process of registering with Staples to do it. I hope my efforts save a few people a real headache.

                        Worked good, but some fields didn't populate in the right places. That could be a function of all the business cards I scanned being different. It was very easy to install. It slowed down Outlook Contacts too. I wouldn't recommend it purely based on price.

                          Does this scanner need to be hooked up a to a computer/laptop when scanning? Or does it have internal memory that can store the cards as we scan them and we can upload them later?

                          Also, if we do not use a compatible email program, does the software create a separate digital address book of the scans that we can still use as a searchable reference?

                            According to Cardscan this product does need to be connected to a computer when scanning business cards. This product would still allow you to create a searchable address book even if you are not using the listed compatible email programs.
