This is a great inexpensive cash register if you don't need a "Point of Sale" system. Simple to set up if you can follow directions. It uses thermal paper so it never needs ink or new print cartridges. Thermal paper is more expensive than ink paper but if you accept credit cards, usually the thermal paper is supplied free from your bank or credit card processor. I use this register in a small very busy restaurant. It has the capability to use multiple sales tax needs. In my state, food tax and liquor tax are the same rate but must be seperated on our sales tax returns, so food is set to tax rate 1 and liquor set to tax rate 2 both at the same percentage but the receipts and reports show the 2 different tax totals. It also has PLU capabilities so this register can be as simple or complex as you need. I highly recommend this register if you don't need a "Point of Sale" system.

This is a good register. It works well but the use of multiple departments is awkward. To get to the upper department numbers, you have to press the dept shift key multiple times - shift-shift-Dept 1 for example. It is just a bit awkward if you're trying to ring up a bunch of stuff. Also, if you discount an item (say give 10% off to seniors) the way it shows on the Z-report isn't the way I'd like. It discounts right out of the department instead of showing full price and then a separate item for the discount amount. So this is a good register if you don't mind about the report format and you don't need to worry about how quickly you can ring up multiple departments.

Machine seems to operate ok but was difficult to set up and is difficult to operate. Reports list net sales and total sales with taxes, but clerk report just lists total sales with taxes and not net sales. Difficult to figure commissions for multiple clerks without net sales for each clerk. Still learning machine, will probably get easier
