I had some difficulty at first in switching from another internet provider to my current one. The wireless router is new to me. It would of helped if I had some additonal information (written) during the setup period. My main problem turned out to be that my previous internet provider was not disconnected before I went with my new provider.
This really was not a wireless router problem, except that if I was told that my wired internet should be disconnected before I went to wireless I would of saved some time.

I bought 3 of these to use in an office to connect 3 computers to a wireless printer. As it ended up I was only able to hook up 2 computers to the wireless printer b/c the distance was too great for the Valet to handle. The 3rd computer ended up being shared with a printer of the main computer (a 4th computer) so now I am all hooked up. I made them work, but really for home network.

Comments about Cisco – Valet ™ Connector Wireless Adapter:

This device was easy to setup but thats where its pros end. It ran insanely hotter than any wireless adapter i have ever seen. Im talking burn your hand hot. Connection was unreliable and the device had to be reset a lot to regain connection. Removing the device required you to have to reinstall it every time this happened. Just an overall hassle to deal with and not worth the [$]clearance price.

If your laptop has a wireless card in it then it will be able to connect to a coffee shop wireless if they have that option avialable. You would only be able to connect to wireless internet if they have their wifi unlocked.

Airport Extreme is my wireless router. My network consists of: iMac with OS 10.5.8, HP with Windows XP Media Center SP3 (two of those) and one eMachine with Windows 7. All four computers are compatible with Airport Extreme.

I just got an LG Vortex phone through Verizon & they said since it is a 3G wireless Hotspot already all I need to use it as a wireless modem for my home HP pc with Windows XP is a USB wireless stick. Is this true or would I also need a router in order for the stick to pick up the signal from my phone?

            A:

Your phone acts like a Wifi Hotspot. Therefore all you will need is this USB adapter to connect your computer to the internet when you have the 3G Hotspot feature enabled on the phone. Please be advised that you may encore additional data charges when using the feature. You should contact Verizon for specific details.
