Q: I set the key up on my laptop, limit 3 guests with a guest password. We purchased our son a laptop and he's able to connect to the internet, listen to music through ipod touch, wi-fi on cell, PS3 wireless games, etc without using the guest password. How is this? If I have it set to limit 3, how can 5 devices be used at the same time? Asked on 5/7/2012 by Anonymous from Dallas, GA Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: You have set the password limit to three guests, but if his devices are registered on the network they are not "guests." They are member nodes of the network, no matter what password he logs on with. So you have to de-authorize the devices. Answered on 5/8/2012 by Community Answer from None

Q: I have an older modem from Verizon. (1) If I purchase the Valet plus can I remove this and just use the Valet for modem and router? (2) I am having difficulty streaming Netflix movies with an Apple TV, my current wireless router g, and distance of 75ft but thru 2 walls plus an outside wall to a room added to our home. Will the Valet have any issues w/ Apple, and the Valet provide a strong enough signal ? (2 desktops and laptop are not Macs) Thanks for any help! Asked on 2/6/2011 by Syd Know the answer? Answer this question 3 answers A: 1) The Valet works in concert with your existing modem. The connection goes from your outside line to your modem, then from your modem to your Valet. Then you can connect up to four outputs (i.e. we have a direct connection to our desktop), or use the password to connect wirelessly to multiple outputs (i.e. our two laptops). 2) Our Valet is connected within a terminal box in a wall, which is located in a back closet. We have no issues with connectivity or speed anywhere in our house (which is just under 2400 sq ft if you want to know for comparative purposes). Buy it from Staples and set it up ..if it doesn't work, you have 14 days to return it. Good luck! Answered on 4/19/2011 by A very satisfied techno-impatient client from San Diego, CA A: I can answer #1. Yes, you still need a modem with the Valet. It is only a router. As for #2, I get a strong signal two rooms away (but only through interior walls). Answered on 3/1/2011 by Dr. T from Arizona A: You'll still want to keept he modem, because the Cisco Valet is just the router portion. It takes the signal from the modem and transmits it as a wireless signal. It is the latest technology, so it should certainly suit your needs as far as range is concerned!
